Facebook doesn't let you download most videos, but you can save any public video, Reel or Watch video as an MP4 in a few seconds with a free online tool like VidFetch. Here's how on each device.
How to copy a Facebook video link
Every download starts with the video's URL:
- Facebook app: tap Share under the video, then Copy link.
- Browser: click the video's timestamp or open it full screen, then copy the URL from the address bar.
- Reels: tap Share → Copy link. The link looks like
facebook.com/reel/…
All of these formats are supported: facebook.com/watch?v=…, facebook.com/username/videos/…, facebook.com/reel/…, facebook.com/share/v/… and fb.watch/….
How to download Facebook videos on Android
- Copy the video link from the Facebook app.
- Open VidFetch in Chrome.
- Tap Paste, then Download.
- Tap Download HD. The video is saved to your Download folder and shows up in Gallery or Google Photos.
How to download Facebook videos on iPhone & iPad
- Copy the video link from the Facebook app.
- Open VidFetch in Safari (iOS 13 or later).
- Paste the link and tap Download, then Download HD. Confirm the download when Safari asks.
- Open the Files app → Downloads, tap the video, then Share → Save Video to move it to Photos.
How to download Facebook videos on Windows & Mac
- Open the video on facebook.com and copy the URL from the address bar.

How to download private Facebook videos
Videos from private groups or profiles can't be fetched from a link because they need your login. Use the Private Video Downloader instead: open the video on a computer, press Ctrl+U, copy the whole page source and paste it into the tool. Everything is processed in your browser.
Troubleshooting
- "No downloadable video found": the video is private, deleted, or the link points to a post rather than the video. Open the video itself and copy that link.
- Only SD is available: the uploader didn't publish an HD version.
- The link expired: Facebook's download links expire after a few hours. Paste the video URL again to get fresh links.
- Nothing happens on iPhone: make sure you're using Safari, not the in-app Facebook browser.
