Private video FAQ
Why can't private videos be downloaded from a link?
Private videos are only visible to logged-in users who have permission, so our server can't open them. The page source from your own browser already contains the video links, so we read those instead.
Is it safe to paste my page source?
Yes. The page source is processed entirely in your browser with JavaScript and never sent to our servers. Close the tab afterwards to clear it.
Can I do this on a phone?
Viewing the page source is hard on mobile browsers. For the most reliable results, use Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer.
It says no video was found. What should I do?
Make sure you opened the video page itself (not the news feed), let the video start playing, then copy the full page source again. Videos embedded in some group posts may need to be opened in a new tab first.
